The Warm House
The "Warm House" was set up to provide a framework of what a safe haven is supposed to feel like for girls 13-17 years old who are in distressed situations. They meet at the house for therapy, relaxation and a warm meal which they may not get at home themselves. Helping with English and spending time with them showing that someone cares is the foundation of what volunteers do here. Basic Hebrew is needed but it is not mandatory.
The Center for Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation
The center provides a therapeutic environment for adolescent boys and adults men, who are battling drug and alcohol addiction. Volunteers engage in one-one-one English teaching twice a week in order to help them improve their ability to communicate and give them a sense of achievement Basic Level of H Hebrew from volunteers is necessary in order to help the men understand what the English phrases mean.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters
Based on the very successful model of the program in the United States, our volunteers are aiming high to create a program that mirrors their USA counterpart and start to match up children in distress and at risk to caring teenagers or adults who are willing to spend time with their "littles" and become a surrogate "sibling" to them. This can be achieved by going to the movies, reading with them or even just sitting there and listening to them talk, all options are open and these children are in desperate need of someone there to call their own.
Ramla Foundation for Education, Culture and Development
This non-profit organization runs various social projects throughout the city such as day care centers, community centers, libraries, dental clinics and more. Volunteers have helped expand the fundraising efforts by editing and improving the English text on the website and all by making direct contact with potential funding sources in the USA through mailings and phone calls.
Shim-Shone Army Base
Help fix communication devices and radios for the many soldiers at this base. Also, volunteers have helped repair and paint military helmets and learned about army life from their peers and friends they have made at this base.
Good Neighbor
Volunteers here will help pack food donated from celebration halls, IDF surplus and various donations into boxes which are then distributed to needy families around Tiberias.
